Lyrics

Spanish: Arrebato

Arrancame de mi pecho
esta duda que me mata
y envenena mi existencia.
Decime
si es verdad que tu cariño,
que era mi única alegría
ya se ha muerto para mí.
Yo no quiero la limosna
de tu boca mentirosa,
que hoy me besa con engaño.
Prefiero
que me hables con franqueza,
y que tengas entereza
pa’ decirme la verdad.

Quiero yo saber
qué te pasa a vos,
que te encuentro entristecida,
si hasta pa’ mi amor
noto con dolor
que te estás mostrando esquiva.
Quiero que me hablés,
quiero yo saber
por qué has cambiado tanto.
¡No, no llorés...!
Si yo ya sé
que vos bien me querés.

Esas lágrimas me dicen
que los celos me cegaron,
que sos la misma de antes.
Perdoná
todo el mal que yo te he hecho,
arrebato que en mi pecho
una duda alimentó.
No llores, he conseguido
arrancarme de los ojos
la venda que los cubría.
Y ahora
con mis besos yo quisiera
olvidar este momento
que nos amargó a los dos.

English: Outburst

Tear this doubt from my chest,
it’s killing me
and poisoning my existence.
Tell me
if it is true that your affection,
once my only joy,
is already dead to me.
I don't want charity
from your lying mouth,
that today kisses me, deceitfully.
I prefer
that you speak to me sincerely,
that you have enough integrity
to tell me the truth.

I want to know
what’s the matter with you.
I find you saddened
and even towards my love
I notice with pain
that you're acting aloof.
I want you to talk to me,
to know
why you have changed so much.
No, do not cry!
I already know
that you care for me.[1]

Those tears tell me
that jealousy blinded me,
that you are the same as before.
Forgive
all the harm I've done to you,
the outburst that a doubt
nourished in my chest.
Do not cry, I have managed
to rip the bandage
covering my eyes,
and now
with my kisses I wish
to forget this moment
that embittered us both.

References

  1. The original in Spanish uses the expression querer bien, which means, more literally, ’to love well’ and, more figuratively, ’to love with good intentions’. However we consider the verb "to care" as the closest English version that would also sound natural, though not implying the full meaning of the Spanish locution.
